USF-Funded Summer REUs : Engineering
The year round operating College of Engineering REU program was initiated in 2001. Currently, about 100 students participate at a given time throughout the year. These students directly join state-of-the-art research efforts across the College of Engineering as Undergraduate Research Assistants, working together with professors and graduate students on real research projects. Many of these students have already joined graduate school further pursuing their research projects. Typically, students new to the program are given small projects, which they carry out under guidance by graduate students and professors. Once the students become more experienced, their projects become more independent and complex. A number of students involved in the program have already co-authored publications in major scientific journals and contributed to international conferences.
: None, applicants can join the program anytime during the year. Participation is not time-limited and can go on for several years, starting on the Freshman level.
