How long does it take to find a match?

The Research Matching Process is totally student driven. You decide which term to begin research, when you’d like to meet with us after you’ve looked at the Faculty Mentors’ projects, and the other parts of UR in which to participate. Some students have a match within 2 weeks of contacting us, but many find it takes 4-6 weeks to feel they’ve found the best match for themselves with our help.

In certain situations, it may take longer depending on availability of appropriate projects in particular topic areas. Best thing to do is keep in contact, regularly. So, for example, if you decide to wait until next term, let us know. And, if you have lost touch with a potential mentor, also let us know, so we can help. Then, everyone is on the same page.
